• Herkimer County Community Food Security Survey 2026

    Thank you for participating! The purpose of this survey is to understand your thoughts and experiences concerning food access in your community. This survey will take about 5 minutes, and we encourage you to answer the questions honestly and to the best of your knowledge. Your responses will help inform the Food Bank of Central New York, a not-for-profit organization fighting to eliminate hunger in our region, on how to improve food access in Herkimer County and beyond.
  • Definitions

    Food Assistance Program: Food programs that provide free or supplemental groceries or meals to neighbors in need.

    Food Insecurity: The lack of consistent, reliable access to enough safe and nutritious food for a person to live an active, healthy life.

    Food Security: The consistent, reliable access to enough safe and nutritious food for a person to live an active, healthy life. 

    Household: A collective group of people who share living or dwelling place(s) and prepare meals together. 

    Hunger: A physical feeling of pain or discomfort (in your body) as a result of not eating for a long time.
